Editor: H. Murphy

Opening: President Dennis Mogil called the meeting to order, Doug Armstrong led the singing of his adaptation of I've Been Working on the Railroad adjusted to a Rotary theme. The unique lyrics were original and Doug does not have a copyright on them. Following the pledge Doug had as the Thought for the Day: We don't stop playing because we are getting old, we get old because we stop playing.

Visiting Rotarians introduced by Bill McGuire, both from the Ithaca Club, Guy Tabacchi and PDG Gene Erickson.

Doug Reports that Chuck Brodhead's late wife Phyllis, long time librarian at the Boynton Middle School, was posthumously honored with the school's media center named after her. Her unique enthusiasm for learning new technology and sharing her knowledge with students and teachers as well earned her many friends. In her 31 years at Boynton, she transformed a collection of books and film strips into a whole new concept for the 21st century, changing to a computer lab using the Internet as a major reference source. Chuck and his four children were on hand with 150 friends and colleagues for the placing a plaque in her honor in the center on Monday evening.

Interact at Lansing High School will be implemented with Dennis and AnnMarie conducting two more information sessions in July for the students. AnnMarie announced that our International Fellowship Award will be presented at this week's Lansing High graduation. Last year's winner has just returned from her South American year of work and will soon be presenting a program on her experience in three different countries.

Ev Morse Alerted Us to view the TV program History Detectives on the PBS channel 4 on Monday, June 30 at 9 pm when his wife June will appear on a segment taken at the Tompkins County History Center about the 1856 book Female Life Among the Mormons.

Bosnia Project: AnnMarie noted that our Club has made progress in getting closer to our goal of $375 to support the computer center being established in Bosnia under the guidance of Chris Bragdon of the Ithaca Rotary Club. Checks for this may be made to SEEDS and sent to AnnMarie or Ed Siemon.

50/50 conducted by AnnMarie and won by Bill McGuire.

Happy/Sad $$: Ed Siemon was well pleased by the work of the Town in installing a drain pipe and covering it with soil and grass to help make his front yard more level. Much easier to mow now. Guy Tabacchi had a sad $ for a well pump taken out by lightning. Joe Quigley was happy for a family visit with grandchildren. Bill McGuire's $$ were for the front yard work by the town plus an ample supply of rain for his lawn.

AnnMarie was happy with her new job and amazed to see photos from an Iowa friend of the prompt relocation of railroad tracks which had been flooded out. Dennis enjoyed a first overnight visit by his grandson and is pleased to have his vegetable garden doing very well. Jim Lorbeer is pleased to have a new system in place that should ensure that his basement will stay dry in future heavy rain storms. Doug paid his $ to relate the story of Noah in the year 2008 trying to meet all the government regulations on zoning, safety, animal rights, affirmative action, etc, etc.

Dues: With our next meeting on July 1 which is the beginning of the new Rotary year, our Club dues will be due. Currently our dues are $60.00 for six months and has not changed for several years, but our dues to RI and the District have continued to climb so that our payments to them have taken the major portion of our $60.00, leaving only a miniscule portion for Club use. Should we increase dues now and if so by how much? This will be under discussion next week.
