- Pres.
Jean Wants You to Know!
Check
out this Attendance Rule: Were you a kid when you joined
Rotary? If so and if more than a few years have passed since
then, you might be eligible to become exempt from the attendance
requirement. The rule is "A member's absence shall be excused
if the aggregate of the member's age and years of membership
in one or more clubs is 85 years or more and the member
has notified the club secretary in writing of the member's
desire to be excused from attendance and the board has approved."
So, if you joined Rotary when you were 35 and you're now
60, you add your age (60) and your years as a member (25)
together and get 85! You're eligible to apply for the exemption.
We'd love to have you come to Rotary every week for the
rest of your life. But, if business or retirement activities
are keeping you from attending, and if you're eligible for
this exemption, please apply.

- A
Parting Letter from Ruslan Samadov
My dear fellow Rotarians,
Thank you very much for your hospitality. I really felt
myself in a community of friends and understood that ideals
of Rotary are alive. I am leaving this Tuesday and apologize
for not expressing my gratitude and saying goodbye to all
of you personally.
May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet; enough
trials to keep you strong; enough sorrow to keep you human;
enough hope to keep you happy; enough failure to keep you
humble; enough success to keep you eager; enough friends
to give you comfort; enough faith and courage in yourself,
your business, and your country to banish depression; enough
wealth to meet your needs; enough determination to make
each day a better day than yesterday.
Sincerely yours,
Ruslan Samadov Baku Premier Rotary Club (Azerbaijan)

Such as, chartreuse, which is a noun for a color that is
a light, yellowish green; also, an aromatic, usually yellow
or green liqueur, originally made by Carthusian monks in
Grenoble, France.

Damm
was happy to have survived the first round of the holiday!
- Dale
Flinn reminded us that if you are interested in attending
the District Conference note that the cost is $595 PER COUPLE.
There is no restrictions on what constitutes a "couple",
so you should feel free to buddy up with any other Rotarian
you wish. You just have to be in the same hotel room...
no questions will be asked!!
- Bob
Sprole remembered that today would have been his grandfather's,
Bob Sprole, 90th birthday.

"Pride
of Ownership Awards"
|
|
Ithaca Rotary Club and the City of Ithaca
The
Ithaca Rotary Club and the City of Ithaca sponsor an award
program to recognize property owners who develop projects
or take care of their properties in ways that enhance the
physical appearance and quality of life in city neighborhoods
and commercial areas. Many developers and property owners
are committed to maintaining and improving their properties,
and take pride in ownership of buildings that sustain the
city and make Ithaca a special place to live and work. These
people deserve acknowledgement as an expression of our community's
appreciation.
Awards
in each of three categories were given for properties located
within the city of Ithaca: commercial projects, rental housing,
and owner-occupied housing. Major criteria for the awards
are how properties appear from the street and public right-of-way,
improve their local surroundings, and thereby increase the
quality of life for the city as a whole. Nominations were
judged by a committee of representatives from Ithaca Rotary
and the City of Ithaca. These members included Susan Blumenthal
(chair), John Barradas, Margaret Hobbie, Jagat Sharma, and
Scott Whitham. This year's winners received an original, framed
drawing of their properties by John Barradas with framing
by Mastercraft Custom Framers.
