"Rotary On-site: Lake Source Cooling Project"
|
|
|
| On July 16, the Ithaca Rotary Club spent the meeting time visiting the Lake Source Cooling Project at Cornell on East Shore Drive. Beverly Baker arranged for box lunches from Wegmans for those attending. We were allowed to roam about the plant at will, visiting stations where information was either posted or available from staff on hand to answer our questions. There were also two video tapes running with footage of the construction project and information about the facility.
After lunch, Lanny Joyce from Cornell's Utilities and Energy Management Department hosted a question and answer session along with several other staff members. It was a very interesting visit and Rotarians who were there all seemed to have a good time.

Pres. Jeff tries to open a water main! |
| For more information about the Lake Source Cooling Project you can visit their web site http://www.utilities.cornell.edu/LSC and view the lake-water quality reports generated by Upstate Freshwater Institute of Syracuse, New York as well. You can also read the findings and data shared with the community through a consultant to the Town of Ithaca, Benchmark, by visiting their web site http://www.town.ithaca.ny.us.
Our thanks to Lanny Joyce and his crew as well as Beverly Baker and President Jeff for this interesting diversion from our usual affair.

George Kennedy sneaks in after Pres. Jeff to open the water main further. |

Fortunately, in the midst of all this Rotarian Rowdiness, Scott Russell provides a bit of maturity and deep interest. |

Jerry Feist narrowly escapes being caught by a Lake Source Cooling official while redirecting the flow of the cooling water back to the fishes of the lake! (Mouse over the image to zoom in on Jerry.) |

Special thanks to John Ziegler to sucking up to the Lake Source Official by returning the flow back to normal and up to Cornell. |
