Ithaca Rotary Constitution and Bylaws Update 2003
Our charge
was to review and update our Constitution and Bylaws. Once we
read the suggested constitution & bylaws provided
by Rotary International, we realized ours were so outdated that
we
needed to start from scratch!
We edited the official documents, made sure we included anything
peculiar to our Club and then combined everything into one document.
Most
of what is left is direct form RI. Besides the new regulations
regarding
membership, you'll find the biggest changes are:
1) Addition of members from the general membership to both the
nominating committee (formerly it was only past Presidents) and
the Board (currently we only elect officers and the President appoints
the Four Avenues of Service chairs to fill out the Board).
2) RI suggests the Four Avenues of Service chairs be chosen from
already elected Board members. We feel the president needs to be
able to select these people so we are suggesting he/she nominate
those four, the nominating committee select another three and all
seven be formally elected in May.
Please
review the attached and address any questions/comments to any
member of the committee by February 7 for review
by the Board on February 11 so that we may vote as soon as possible
after
the appropriate notice is given to all members. You may also submit
your comments electronically using the online form located on
the Constitution and Bylaws
Feedback page.
