| Scott
Heald and David Mitchell, 402 Esty Street gardens |
 |
Once
an eyesore, 402 Esty Street is now an attractive, well-maintained
house with gardens that have become a focal point of positive
neighborhood interaction. |
| Every
inch of the grounds have been transformed by Scott Heald
and David Mitchell, who have built raised beds for vegetables,
established a shade garden beneath one of the oldest magnolia
trees in the city, dug a pool for a water garden, and
installed a shale rock garden and stone walkways. With
the help of Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services, they
added a sun room with a flagstone terrace last year. |
