Membership Committee

The purpose of the membership committee is to assure the continued growth of our Rotary Club while keeping in mind a need for a diverse classification mix of our members. This is accomplished through encouraging existing Rotary members to invite potential Rotarians, who they believe would be an asset to Rotary and to our community, to visit our club. The committee then assists the potential Rotarian along the path to become a Rotarian.

Program Committee

The Ithaca Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. every Thursday morning at the Royal Court Restaurant in Ithaca. A main component of each meeting is the program, a twenty to thirty minute talk/presentation by the invited speaker of the meeting. Speakers are generally from the local community, a visiting Rotarian or one of the Club's exchange students. Topics typically concern the community -- community service organizations and issues, and health and safety issues. Exchange students often speak of their experiences gained from living in a new and different environment, be it an Ithacan who is studying abroad or a visitor from afar who is sharing their life and culture with us in our great community. Each month, a separate Rotarian is responsible for enlisting speakers for that particular month. The presentations are often educational for the speaker as well as the audience.

Membership Booklet Committee

This committee is responsible for annually updating the active membership roster and providing communication information for each member. The booklet also provides the names of that year's Rotary International President, the District Governor, Club Officers and Directors. Past Presidents are listed by the year they served, and Paul Harris Fellows with the year they were awarded the distinction. Committees are shown under the appropriate avenue of service along with the member's names that are on each committee. The membership booklet also provides valuable information for proposing new members, names of other clubs within the district, where and when neighboring clubs meet and last but not least, the Rotary "Four Way Test" and Object of Rotary.

Sunshine Committee

The sunshine committee is made up of four to five members. Our main purpose is to spread joy and happiness into the hearts and souls of our fellow Rotarians. We do this by keeping abreast of the health of the members of the club. We send cards of sympathy to those Rotarians who have lost a loved one. We make phone calls or arrange visits to Rotarians that are ill. The sunshine committee takes pride in staying in touch and being there when needed.
